Adam Frydenlund

Adam first found himself on his yoga mat in 2010 during a tumultuous time in his life. During this period of growth and transition he quickly discovered that the benefits of regular asana practice ran deeper than improved strength, flexibility, and balance. For the first time in his life he felt grounded and centered and at ease. He realized that this peace of mind, this lightness of spirit, had come from within and he is passionate about opening this experience to all. Adam strives to create a welcoming space where students are empowered to explore their own mind-body-spirit connection through the moving meditation of a challenging and dynamic asana practice. Away from his mat, Adam can often be found enjoying the solitude of the forest on the shores of Lake Superior.

Alyssa Adkins
Alyssa Adkins

Alyssa Adkins

Alyssa started practicing yoga the summer after her freshman year of college. She thinks she was searching for a way to loose weight and get stronger. A month later, though, she had an anxiety attack and realized she had a lot of healing to do. So, she returned to her mat with the intention of taking care of her whole self - body, mind and spirit. After three years on her mat and a lot of encouragement from her teachers, Alyssa completed her 200-hour Power Yoga Teacher Training through CorePower in fall 2015.

Alyssa believes that each student gets to define (and redefine!) what yoga means to them. While in the studio, Alyssa tries to create a supportive space for students to explore. Watching students learn to listen to themselves - finding modifications for their bodies, knowing when to move deeper into or out of a pose - thrills her.

Alyssa loves yoga and the community she's found because it. She also loves to cook for friends, knit with her grandma, eat pizza with her brother and sister, and laugh wildly at Mike Birbiglia's stand-up routines.

Andy Bertilrud

Andrew was very curious about yoga for years before he took his first class, but felt like he didn't have a good enough reason to try it. Then one day, his legs started cramping up while running sprints at the gym and took a dive on the asphalt. While that hurt, he was happy because he could use the "I need to stretch" excuse to try Yoga. After that first class, he didn't need that excuse anymore

After a couple of years of practicing pretty sporadically and going through the ups and downs of life, Andrew decided to enroll Power Yoga Teacher Training. After finishing training in December 2012, he did a couple of other yoga trainings and taught his first class in May 2013.
Anna Wiens
Anna Wiens

Anna Wiens

When Anna was still a young child, her mother took her to her first ashtanga class. While seemingly foreign and strange at first, Anna soon developed a love and dedication to yoga and its sister science, ayurveda. Yoga has now become an integral part of her life and has served as an important gateway to pranayama, meditation, and holistic living. Her classes are anatomically focused and infused with breath, concentration, and ayurvedic wisdom. She has spent over a decade with Bikram's 26 postures and continues to study and practice the intermediate and advanced series from which Bikram's postures were derived. She believes that "advancement" or "progress" in yoga is not an expression of a physical posture, but instead is an experience within the framework of the mind, body, and spirit. Her goal is to meet and support each yogi/yogini on their own unique journey of Yoga.

Janell Mace
Janell Mace

Janell Mace

Janell found Yoga in 2007. Her practice ebbed and flowed over the years until the Summer of 2014 when she decided to take the leap and complete the Power Yoga Teacher Training program. Janell found that a regular yoga practice was the only thing to help with the chronic pain she suffered after being rear-ended in 2001. Janell played hockey and fast-pitch softball for many years but was forced to quit due to the injuries she sustained. Janell's regular yoga practice encouraged her to recognize the importance of the mind-body-spirit connection on and off the mat through which she became more confident mentally and physically as her body and mind grew stronger. Janell has an incredible passion to help others live healthier, happier and more authentic lives through regular yoga practice and Holistic Health & Wellness Coaching. When Janell is off her mat she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, working out, snowboarding, stand-up paddle boarding, reading and so much more.

Liz Carroll

Liz was introduced to yoga during a transformational time in her life. As she adjusted, she searched for healthy ways to complement a new way of life. Her sister suggested she try yoga. As she stumbled her way through her first class, although everything that was happening in her body and mind was new, there was an undeniable correlation in what she was experiencing on her mat and what she was experiencing in life. Liz did her first training in 2010, a 200-hour training in 2013, and has completed additional continuing education ever since. Maria Madsen
Maria Madsen

Maria Madsen

Maria first tried yoga as a way to balance out a cardio-heavy workout routine. Being very inflexible, stretching was always something that she avoided, but knew that she should do. Yoga turned out to be the perfect balance between stretching, elongating, strength, and balance. After being a committed student for four years, Maria dove into teaching. Teaching made Maria fall in love with yoga (and barre!) in a whole new way. She loves seeing her students improve and gain the strength and flexibility that keeps them coming back for more. When she isn't in the studio, Maria can be found entertaining Rebel (her cat), running, or drinking a glass of wine with her husband.

She hopes to spread the joy and mindfulness that yoga has given her in each of her classes.

As a musician and roadie for over 20 years, I found balance to my nightlife through yoga. As an instructor/camp counselor for cancer survivors,I believe yoga should be accessible for every body. Small movements and adjustments can bring great results mentally and physically. I bring a strong foundation of safe alignment fused with the joy of movement along with the same lessons I learned on the mat, I use in my daily life; modifications are encouraged and child's pose is ALWAYS an option.
